Why You NEVER Want to Lose Them!
I decided to update this page on random erections because I came across a study I hadn’t seen before that we need to discuss.
And keep in mind as you read this…
This info is not for young dudes who want to block these random woodies. It’s for older dudes who would like to get them back.
In this study, sixty subjects with erectile dysfunction aged 60-70 years and 30 control patients aged 18-40 years were studied.
Hormones were tested, along with cardiovascular fitness, including fitness of the arteries leading to the penis.
The subjects were then given a PDE5 inhibitor every other day for 3 consecutive months before being tested again.
And the results?
Among the older dudes with slight or no signs of blockage of the arteries, spontaneous erections resumed at the end of the three month period (source).
Good news, right?
Now let’s talk about how we can put this information to use.
How to get Spontaneous Wood Back
So the take home here is, if you’re an older man and your random erections have disappeared, you need to do two things.
Take steps to reduce penile plaque and improve your cardiovascular health.

I suggest you put your focus on items number 4 and 5, because they are the most effective.

And keep in mind, some of these natural PDE5 inhibitors can be taken daily, or even multiple times a day in some cases.
My suggestions would be to take your inhibitor of choice prior to sex in order to enhance your erection while doing the deed.

Random erections, spontaneous boners, surprise woodies…
Call them whatever you want, just make sure that you never lose
If you want to have a vibrant sex life, that is.
Because random hard-ons are like a neon sign advertising your reproductive health and sexual fitness.
And once they start to fade, your desire and your ability to take care of business in the bedroom will begin to fade as well.
If you’re under the age of 30, and you’ve stopped sprouting spontaneous erections, it’s important that you remember this…
Nothing kills random erections faster or more frequently in young men than porn does.
Sixteen year old boys email me all the time, complaining that they can’t get hard wood…and my first question to them is, when did you start watching hardcore movies?
11-12 years old is the most common answer.
So a few short years of exposure kills one of the most potent biological functions in a male, who at 16 years old, should be at his absolute sexual peak.
Random Erections In Older Men
But what about older men…guys over the age of 30 who don’t sprout spontaneous erections anymore?
Well, porn can get older men too, but hopefully they’ve gained enough wisdom to avoid falling into this bottomless pit.
So if it’s not that, then what is is?
The pharmaceutical industry provides the answer to this question, because there are three classes of drugs that bring back random wood in men who use them.
The first is L-dopa a medication used to treat parkinson’s disease.
Men who are given this medication turn into walking, talking erections machines (source).
As a matter of fact, many a grandpa has been busted in his local massage parlor after being given this drug.
Because L-dopa increases dopamine in the body….and dopamine is a powerful builder of random wood, that comes along with a hefty dose of motivation to get out there and use it.
The next drug class, which is actually a hormone, is testosterone replacement therapy (Androgel, Axiron, Testim, Androderm, etc).
Men who use these also start seeing random erections again, until estrogen rebound and testicular atrophy kick in…two very common TRT side effects that kill the joy ride soon after it begins.
The third class of drugs that bring on spontaneous wood (in some but not all men) are the erectile dysfunction drugs, Cialis, Levitra and Viagra.
This happens due to their impact on nitric oxide, a chemical which opens and relaxes the blood vessels in the penis, which needs to happen in order for an erection to happen.
Unfortunately, these ED drugs bring on the wood, but they do absolutely nothing to create the desire to use it….because you need the other two, dopamine and testosterone, to get that desire.
And sure, you can get both of these by using L-dopa and testosterone replacement, but these meds come along with unacceptable side effects.
So a smart move would be to pass on the drugs and the negative side effects, and place your focus on boosting testosterone, dopamine and nitric oxide naturally instead…
Because loss of random erections or your morning erection means one or more of these isn’t operating properly in your system.

How To Regain Random Erections
One way is to quit smoking, if you’ve developed this destructive habit.
A recent study out of France tracked men who had stopped smoking, and after twelve months, 25 percent started seeing spontaneous erections again.
Weight loss is another tool that can be used, which another study recently demonstrated.
In this trial scientists noted that 1/3 of the subjects who improved their diet, reduced calories, exercised and lost weight saw a return of random erections.

Controlling blood sugar levels is also vital, as elevated glucose lowers nitric oxide production and damages the blood vessels leading to your penis.
Optimizing your blood pressure is also important, because elevated BP lowers nitric oxide production and does damage to your blood vessels as well.

Avoidance of manmade chemicals found in pesticides, cosmetics and household cleaners will lower your exposure to estrogen mimic’s and have a positive impact on testosterone (source).
Optimizing intake of the fat soluble vitamins, A, D, K and E will have a positive impact on testosterone as well.
The final weapon all men should use to increase the occurrence of random erections is female courtship, pursuit and sexual engagement.
Because the more often you chase, woo and breed with women, the more testosterone, dopamine and sexual motivation you are going to get.
As a matter of fact, a new study was just published that showed that men who engaged in sex frequently had more hormones and more powerful and consistent erections compared to men who engaged less frequently (source).
Another study found that female courtship and sexual pursuit behaviors increased libido, focus and motivation….which were all fueled by increased production of dopamine.
Data on mate choice among mammals suggest that this behavioral ‘attraction system’ is associated with dopaminergic reward pathways in the brain…..
Studies indicate that elevated activity of dopaminergic pathways can stimulate a cascade of reactions, including the release of testosterone.
As you can see, mating, and attraction are powerful tools you can use to elevate dopamine and testosterone which will help bring those random erections on (source).
And you can open this pathway even when chasing a female you’ve been connected with for years or even decades, simply by pursuing new sexual favors or having sex in new locations, for example.
In other words, anytime you add novelty into the sexual mix, you’re going to get more dopamine, because this neurotransmitter always comes alive when you do something new, novel or slightly risky.
And remember what we discussed earlier…dopamine is a powerful builder of random erections, much more so than even testosterone.
So the real keys to random erections are, don’t screw them up in the first place by gaining excess weight, watching too much porn, smoking or exposing yourself to too many chemicals.
Then, once you get a grip on these things and have built up a baseline of sexual desire, make sure you pull out that wood and use it, frequently.
Because the more often you think and act in a sexual manner, the more often your wood is going to wake up randomly, looking for something to do.
But remember, if you want to keep those random erections coming….when he does wake up, don’t keep doing the same, tired old things in the bedroom…
Mix it up, take some risk, push the envelope a bit, otherwise boredom will kick in and your dopamine levels will bottom out again….
Because dopamine must have a certain amount of risk, reward and novelty in order to begin percolating in your system.
